Thassos Island

Thassos Island covers 379 km2, is situated in the northern part of Greece and belongs to the Kavala prefecture in eastern Macedonia and Thrace district. Capital of the Island is Limenas, located on the north side of the island.

The most obvious attraction in this island is its unique natural beauty. Lush green landscapes and mountains covered with pine forests and olive groves explain why Thassos is also called “The Green Island”. However, this unique place offers much more than that. The deep blue of the Northern Aegean Sea, picturesque ports, sandy beaches and numerous taverns all over the island will impress the visitor.

Very alluring to the visitors, is also the food in the island, since it is named for its rich gastronomy and its excellent agricultural products. Apart from the taverns and restaurants, Thassos offers several recreational options, since it has rich nightlife, many traditional festivals ( “panigiria” ), archaeological and historical sites to visit, as well as picturesque villages near the shores and among the mountains.
